Staying at the Billings KOA Holiday – The World’s First KOA!
Did you know that the very world’s first KOA (Kampground of America) was founded in Billings, Montana in 1962? While it might be the OG, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t kept up with the expectations of a modern campground in 2023.
There are now over 500 KOA locations throughout the United States and Canada. Learn more about that iconic yellow KOA sign here!

- Basketball Court
Wi-Fi Speed Test
From our site in #4, we ran a quick speed test and found that we had very reliable wi-fi out our site.
Camp Site Review
We have stayed in RV sites #4 and #37.
Site #4 is a long full-hook up pull thru that has a great KOA Patio, fire pit, picnic table, mature trees, cable, strong Wi-Fi, and large grassy areas. What I did discover while sitting in the RV typing this blog is that everyone and their dog, literally there was almost always a dog, use a paved path that runs between site #4 and site #5 to get to the nearby restrooms and Kamp K9. For that reason, I don’t recommend site #4.
Site #37 is pull-thru with water and 30 amp, but no sewer. The location is great with a large patio and mature trees.
Accessibility
The Billings Holiday KOA is very family friendly and highly accessible for those with mobility issues.
